Grim Trials Beginner Guide
How Grim Trials starts: Avelin dies, trains at The Academy, dual-wields scythe and crossbow, and keeps materials after every death.
You play Avelin, a young woman who died too soon and was recruited as one of Death’s Reapers. The goal is not a high score. She is trying to become a full Reaper so she can see her still-living love again.
What kind of game is this?
Grim Trials is a heavy metal action roguelite. Official copy: endless hex-grid arenas filled with monsters, traps, sinful souls, and seven sacrilegious bosses. Those seven are named Sinful Souls: Acedia, Avaritia, Gula, Ira, Luxuria, Superbia, Invidia. You dual-wield a scythe (or axe, or hammer) and a crossbow, craft gear from battlefield spoils, and mix a skill tree with mid-run Blessings such as Morrigan’s Wrath, Niutou’s Strike, Anubis’s Split, Charon’s Shock, and Ammit’s Venom.
The soundtrack is by Indonesian metal band Sigmun. Treat the tone as a coming-of-age story scored like a metal album, not a cozy sim.
The loop in one screen
- Start in The Academy — Death’s hall for training and arming Reapers.
- Invest in the skill tree before a run.
- Enter hex-grid arenas. Dual-wield. Collect materials.
- Mid-run, take Blessings from the Gods of Death.
- Die. Experience and materials stay with Avelin.
- Craft with mentors. Talk to denizens. Take quests. Run again.
Official line: Live, fight, die, then live again, over and over until the promise is kept.

What this wiki will not invent
Boss HP numbers and redeem codes are not here unless Glory Jam publishes them. Names and effects that are already on the HUD, achievements, or official screenshots are here — that is the point of the wiki.
