Avelin - Grim Trials Protagonist
Avelin is the Grim Trials heroine: a young woman who died too soon, recruited as a Reaper trainee so she can see her still-living love again.
Avelin is the player character. In The Academy her title is The Cocoon. Official Steam text: a young woman who has met an untimely end, recruited as one of Death’s many Reapers. She hunts impure souls, faces her own demons, and fights through an underworld of her own making.
Why she fights
She is trying to finish Purification — defeat the Seven Sinful Souls — so she can become a full Reaper and return to the living. Glory Jam named the person she is going back for: Timmy.
Devlog #3: she died in her 20s, in the middle of an argument, last words angry and unfinished. Unwanted by her parents, a misfit, stubborn, until Timmy was the first person who wanted her around. The freak accident cut that short. Every trial is a chance to apologize.
Her line on the official Steam screenshot, standing in The Academy: Back to the real world. To my life. Someone’s waiting for me.
What she looks like
Official trailers (including the PlayStation release-date trailer) show a small trainee with bright magenta-pink hair, leather and gold, often holding a large hammer or axe besides the scythe kit. A teal-skinned senior Reaper in a torn purple robe appears beside her, sometimes juggling gold skulls over a pentagram. That is the game’s face — this wiki uses the same palette.
What she keeps when she dies
Experience and materials stay with her. Death is the loop, not a wipe. That is why crafting and The Academy matter as much as a single arena clear.
